Aqueous solutions, emulsions and cutting oils are the three most commonly used cutting fluids
metal cutting fluid
1.Aqueous solution category
Aqueous solutions are water-based cutting fluids. Water thermal conductivity and cooling effect is good, but pure water easily rust metal, poor lubrication performance. Therefore, often in the aqueous solution by adding a certain amount of additives, such as anti-rust additives, surfactants and oily additives, so that it has both good anti-rust properties, but also has some lubricating properties. In the preparation of aqueous solution, pay special attention to water quality, if it is hard water, must be softened.
2.Emulsion
Emulsion is the emulsion oil with 95% to 98% diluted with water, milky white or translucent liquid, with good cooling effect. However, lubrication, rust performance is poor. Usually add a certain amount of oily, extreme pressure additives and anti-rust additives, formulated into extreme pressure emulsion or rust-proof emulsion.
3.Cutting oil
The main component of cutting oil is mineral oil, a small number of animal or compound oil. Pure mineral oil can not form a strong lubrication and rust in the friction interface.
Selection of cutting fluid
1.Rough cutting fluid selection
Roughing, machining allowance, the use of large cutting, resulting in a large number of cutting heat. When using high-speed steel milling cutter, the main purpose of using cutting fluid is to reduce the cutting temperature and reduce the milling cutter wear. Carbide tool heat resistance, generally do not have cutting fluid, it is necessary to use low concentrations of emulsion or aqueous solution. But must be continuous, full pouring, in order to avoid high temperature cemented carbide inserts generate huge internal stress cracks.
2.Fluid selection for finishing processing
In finishing machining, the smaller the surface roughness is required, the general choice of better lubrication of cutting fluid, such as high concentrations of emulsion or extreme pressure additives containing cutting oil.
3.Select cutting fluid according to workpiece material
Need to use cutting fluid when cutting plastic materials. Cutting of cast iron, brass and other brittle materials, generally do not have cutting fluid, so as not to crash the chip attached to the moving parts of the machine.
Machining high-strength steel, high-temperature alloys and other difficult materials, due to extreme pressure lubrication in the cutting process, it should be used with extreme pressure additives cutting fluid.
Cutting non-ferrous metals and copper, aluminum, in order to get a higher surface quality and accuracy, you can use 10% to 20% emulsion, kerosene or kerosene and mineral oil mixture, but can not use sulfur-containing cutting fluid, due to Sulfur has a corrosive effect on non-ferrous metals.
Cutting magnesium alloy, can not use aqueous solution, to avoid burning.
